POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This organization is seeking a physician leader for a medical director and/or supervising physician role. There are three options for the structure of the position, based upon the preference of the candidate:
1) On-Site Supervising Physician w/ No Patient Care
2) On-Site Supervising Physician w/ Partial Patient Care
3) Facility Medical Director - Mid-Level Supervision / Patient Care / Administrative Duties
The practice primarily sees patients in skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), with some house calls and other facility environments in certain markets.
Depending on the option chosen by the physician, the duties of the role may include, among other responsibilities:
- audit up to 10% of documentation for each supervised provider on a monthly basis
- ensure engagement with facility leadership, other providers, patients, and families
- assume medical directorships for SNFs and/or other facilities (if needed)
- help identify growth opportunities with SNFs and/or other facilities in assigned market
- provide high-quality complex geriatric care to patients
- collaborate with other healthcare providers on a panel of patients
- participate in frontline and/or backup on-call processes
- attend required trainings and meetings to ensure the best care delivery
The new physician leader may also be charged with keeping focus on quality outcomes including, but not limited to:
- care path compliance
- productivity
- prevention of avoidable transfers
- decrease in polypharmacy
- costs of care
The physician will perform collaborating duties for an average of five (5) nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Based on state regulatory parameters, supervision of up to 15 practitioners may be required on an as-needed basis.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Tennessee medical license
- DEA
- Board Certification, relevant field (internal medicine, geriatrics, etc.)
- 2+ years clinical leadership and/or supervising physician experience
- 5+ years clinical practice experience
- previous experience with geriatric primary care
