COMPANY PROFILE:
This organization opened in 2019 and is a busy, multi-site outpatient infusion clinic, specializing in using ketamine to treat depression. Their providers follow guidelines from the American Psychiatric Association and have established a patient-centered approach to ensure safe and comfortable experiences for all patients. They are a complement to, not a replacement for, existing mental healthcare services. They view ketamine as one pillar in a larger care plan, and rely on continuous dialogue with each patient and their referring provider partners to define how ketamine plays a role in overall wellness. They currently boast a staff of 5 physicians and 6 infusion nurses, operating out of 5 convenient locations in New York City.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The new provider will function as both a physician with a patient panel and in a leadership role as the office’s Clinical Director. The physician will oversee infusion nurses and work with the support of an office administrator, central staff, and highly efficient operating systems.
Between providers, the clinic runs a total of 15 to 18 infusions per day, which are scheduled as 90-minute appointments:
- 15 minutes, consultation
- 40 minutes, infusion
- 20 minutes, recovery
- 15 minutes, extra time
The overall duties of this position are to provide direct patient care, coordinate continuing care with referring mental health providers, and lead the operations of an exceptional clinical team. This includes, but is not limited to:
- perform infusion appointments / infusion management
- in-office administration of ketamine
- IV placement, when needed
- clinical monitoring of patients
- patient education
- treatment plan management
- care coordination
- work with external referral partners
- oversight of two (2) infusion nurses and one (1) office administrator
- team management and leadership
- staff coordination
The practice is an all-digital office and uses the IntakeQ EHR.
Many patients are in emotionally vulnerable situations and nervous about infusion treatments. As such, the practice strives to provide an overall calming environment, using methods such as aromatherapy and soothing lights and music. It’s important that the communication style and bedside manner of the new physician emulate the desire to calm and soothe patients, while simultaneously reassuring patients of the safe, quality care they’re receiving.
The Clinical Director works during typical business hours on weekdays only. The office is open select evenings from 4:00pm to 9:00pm and is staffed by a per diem float pool during those hours. If the new physician desires to work evenings for additional income, that can be offered.
REQUIREMENTS:
- New York medical license
- open to all specialties
- comfort with clinical monitoring, IV placement, and infusion management
- board certification or eligibility preferred, not required
