- Monday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Tuesday - 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Wednesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Thursday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Friday, closed
- Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm
- Sunday, closed


COMPENSATION: 
- $25 per Hour
- Full Training Provided

ORGANIZATION PROFILE: 
UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music and the arts.  UpBeat believes economics should not be a barrier to music education, and the organization and its donors provide many scholarships to underserved youth every year.  Their teachers are a passionate group who make a difference in the lives of each and every student - they are not only outstanding musicians, but relate to young people and their unique needs.  Individual and peer-based small group learning environments help to facilitate social and emotional  growth, while students learn the fundamentals of music performance and theory, gaining confidence and self-esteem along the way.  UpBeat currently employs 19 instructors and is excited to welcome more teachers to their team!


POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
The new instructor will focus on piano instruction.  If the instructor is interested in giving voice or other instrument lessons, a small student base can be provided in those areas.

The instructor will work with children ages 5 to 17.  All lessons are in-person at the UpBeat studio on North Elston Avenue in the Mayfair / Jefferson Park neighborhood.

Overall duties include:

- teach 30-minute individual piano lessons
- teach 45-minute individual piano lessons
- teach in group settings when needed
- teach theory, technique, performance, and composition
- utilize exercises and games to motivate students
- conduct ongoing assessments of achievements through formal and informal testing
- help to coordinate and support program activities
- contribute towards organizing activities, curriculum design, and student / parent feedback

No teaching experience is required; full training will be provided.

REQUIREMENTS:
- formal music education, training, etc. (we are unable to consider self-taught musicians)
- proficiency in piano performance
- strong understanding of music theory
- a passion for working with youth
- previous experience in music education, summer camps, or similar settings a plus
